    SURVEY CODE OFFSET

I am just beginning to use the Survey features in Civil3D 2012 to generate a base map.  When we use the offsets, we are having issues when we have a negative number: BC ST H-.5.  The line will not offset, it just comes in directly on top of the original line.  When we use a positive number, it offsets correctly: BC ST H1.4 V.1.  Is there a setting somewhere that needs to be changed for it to read the negative numbers?  Thanks.

Even though this fuction exists I rearly use it. However, try adding a V0. My thoughts our that it is looking for a vertical offset as well and that is why nothing happens.

I tried adding V0.0 and it didn't work either.  Thanks.

    OK,

I ran a quick test and do not exhibit this issue. Below is how I had it set up

    1000,760086.2853,2435408.5935,555.2727,BC1 BEG H-0.5
    1001,760083.5208,2435435.5897,555.2210,BC2 BEG H-1 V1

    Added: I am running SP2

I see one difference between your example and the OP's. You used -0.5 and the OP used -.5.

So I'd suggest the OP try -0.5 instead of -.5.

That very well could be it, I alway but that 0 in front out of habit for less confusion, but maybe its required.

This one offsets to the right correctly:

    134,7014363.181176,11836190.984148,394.089449,BL ST H1.4 V.1

This one doesn't offset to the left, it's directly on top of the original line:

    104,7014263.834784,11836296.056239,394.991292,BC ST H-.5

I have several others that are doing the same thing.  I don't know what is going on.  I thought maybe it's a setting somewhere that I need to change, but I have looked in Help but couldn't find anything.

I am now thinking that I could be the custom Point File Format that we created to bring in Field Notes with the survey point labels.  It was to read any number after the "-" as another column, instead of a negative number.  I now have to figure out how to change that.

    Thanks again for the help.

Adding that additional "0" didn't work.  Thanks.

We regularly use codes such as: FC ST H-.5 V.5 H1.5 V.1275 for having the back of curb to the left of the figure and the gutter to the right.  This doesn't cause us any problems, so I'm not sure what is happening on your end.

I would recommend that you try the OTB PNEZD format and see if that works.

AND / OR you need to remove the dash from your format and replace it with another character line # $ ! or something.
