Before I jump to in depth with trying to figure this part out can someone
tell if the plan production tools work with pipes. I have gotten to work
pretty sweet with paving profiles just tried it in a sanitary sewer model
and it doesn't draw the pipes in my profile view. Draws the profile view ok
but no pipes.

Let me expand on this alittle. I have a sanitary pipe network, multiple
runs, I have an alignment for one of the runs. The structures for this run I
have referenced to that alignment for stationing and such. Run the plan
production tools and it creates my sheets and references in my pipe network
but it doesn't draw my pipes for me on the profile view. Does this still
need to be done manually in the PNP sheet it produces? In the Model sheet I
use the create alignment from pipe network parts, it cuts the ground line
and draws my selected parts in the profile view and I don't think that the
Plan Production tools are to this point yet. Am I correct?

Hi Thomas:

When running thru the Create Sheets wizard, at the Profile Views window, you
can either "Get other settings from an existing profile view" or run thru
the Profile View Wizard. I seem to have better luck choosing the latter
option. When you do that, there should be option for Pipe Network Display.

Not sure if that will help or not.

Thanks I think you pushed me in the right direction. I do use the latter
option as well when doing my Paving sheets just didn't look into it with the
pipes. I believe that is exactly what I was looking for. We will see here
shortly when I jump into it.

I like to drag one pipe or one structure into the Profile. Then, the Pipe
tab becomes available and using pipe numbers and structure numbers I turn
them on.

A way.

there is an AOTC book, Creating and Managing Plan Sets, that covers the topic. i think its pretty good. Covers sharing of other data types, incuding pipes, surfaces that you may want to show in your final plan sheets.

I have found that the plan production for pipes fails if you have it create
sheets in a new drawing and not in the current drawing. The pipes don't
come over and if you do a data refrence then the strucutres don't have the
pipes connecting to them and when you label them they dont show the
flowlines in and out.

I was hoping that I could use it to divide up the work but it sounds like
that is not possible with 2008. Maybe with 2009.
