Links between Civil 3D and SWMM

Hi,

Has anyone created a link between Civil 3D and SWMM?

Or given any thought the the necessary steps to achieve a link?

My first requirement is Civil 3D to SWMM, but a return process would also be
desirable

Wow! You guys are good at filling a niche. If I was still in the consulting world that would be one app I would definitely look into purchasing.

Hi Scott,

I guess stormcad is a drainage design program, but that is my gross
knowledge of it. We have not given any consideration to it.

We have been asked about a SWMM link and I'm trying to establish if there is
one in existence to save re-inventing it.

The only Link between Civil 3D and a "real" storm water design program or
which I'm aware is the link with "Drains"

www.watercom.com.au

As a historical item, the heritage of Drains starts in Illinois, goes to
South Africa and then to Australia

Laurie,

stormcad is haestad/bentley's storm sewer design application.

Even though it is probably the gold standard (except for hydraflow and hydrocad) for storm sewer calculations, and that there is an import LD pipeworks mdb feature currently in storm cad, are you following this . . .

there is no way to import/export pipe data between C3D and stormcad . . . what happended to landxml.

Any heastad/bentley people out there feel free to provide input, or on the autodesk end as well.

Hi,

OK. I had a look with a web search.

If you are interested in this - WHY did you not start your own discussion
instead of throwing irrelevancies at my question which is about SWMM?

Hi Laurie/Saluki,

Is it possible to import/Export data from STROMCAD/SEWERCAD into Civil 3D. I had not used STROMCAD/SEWERCAD. Is there any option in STROMCAD/SEWERCAD to export the data as LandXML file. And if possible is the exported data in enough to be used in Civil 3D 2007.

I'm not sure which SWMM you are talking about, but I have created a link
between Civil 3D and XP-SWMM via LandXML reporting. I made a style sheet
that generates an xpx file from a LandXML data file. This can be imported
into XP-SWMM. Unfortunately, though, XP-SWMM can't create a LandXML file so
I am in the process of writing a program to go in the other direction.
