Is there a way to have multiple sites in a single grading group? I am trying to add a new site to the surface I have already created but when I try to create grading with the new site it asks if I want to create a new grading group. I would like to keep both sites in the same group/surface so that it is easer for calculating volumes.

You terminology is not making sense. A Grading
Group can belong to a Site but not the other way around. A grading group cannot
belong to 2 sites but you can have multiple grading goups in a
site.

OK, what exactly is a grading group? I thought that it was basically a surface? I want to be able to separate different areas of a surface. I would like it if I could grade one area of a surface and not have the TIN lines interact with other areas of a surface. Example: Is there a way to grade a detention pond on a surface and also grade a parking lot on the same surface with out the TIN line being linked together?

A grading group is a group of grading that make up
an object. For example a pond can be made up of several gradings that together
form the pond. A parking lot can be made up of several gradings that form the
parking lot. A grading group can be used to create a surface by toggling on the
Surface settings in the Grading group properties. The surfaces are dynmically
linkwed to the grading group so any changes to the gradings in the group will
update the surface.

Each surface can be independent if the grading
groups that form them are on different sites. In your example, if you put the
pond grading group and the parking lot grading group in sperate sites they
won't interact with each other.
