Grading Creates Surface, Has Volume but

I have setup a site that I am grading to an existing surface...long story short I created the site using a feature line, created a grading group that creates a surface as part of it, then for volume calcs to compare to the existing surface as a target. I have balanced the cut and fill and can see the balance. I then created a new surface to paste both the existing grade and site grade to merge the two together. The problem I am running into is that the the site grading that I have (which includes design contours gerated by the grading as well as conducting volume calcs) says that there is no data to the site grading. How can that be if I am able to generate volumes and contours?

does the paste command not allow you to add the design surface to the new surface?

No. It says there is no data. However, when I look in prospecto and click on its definition it shows over 100 triangles (TIN surface) and like I said it generates contours and does cut and fill. I even did quickview and rendered it and it is showing exactly what it is supposed to do. I am kind of at a loss. I am sure it is a stupid setting somewhere that I am forgetting but not sure where. When I created the grading I checked and rechecked automatically create surface and gave it a name! Now what is also odd is that if I expand the surface under prospector there is no information there...no breaklines or anything. yet I can generate cut and fill....have a shape....but no data.... :-)

For some reason the data is there but you can't extract it from within. After working with my reseller, the information was there but I had to create another surface that contained the same information in order get the volume dashboard and table to insert in the drawing. It is frustrating to say the least but for now it is done.
