Fatal error when opening 2010 c3d unhandled e0434f4dh exception at 7c812afbh

For this one user on one one machine, C3d 2010 crashes with fatal error when opening and gives the message Fatal Error: Unhandled e0434f4dh Exception at 7c812afbh. It had been working fine up until a few days ago, he tried opening a file and got the error. Now it won't open at all and he is dead in the water. Any suggestions for a fix would be greatly appreciated.

Is it just the one drawing, a series of drawings, a project or has the program completely stopped initializing?

The first repair worked for a short while until I started reloading his customizations, then it crashed again with the same fatal error message. The second repair worked and I had to recreate all customizations to avoid crashing again since the prblem seemed to be related to customization or profile files..
