I would like to label line with the ellipsoid (sea level) distance instead of the default grid distance (simple join between coordinates. I can inquire for the ellipsoid distance using the MAPDIST command, but can I use this in a label style?

Sorted now. In the label settings select the property “General Segment Geodetic Distance”.
