    Civil3D vs. LDD2006 with Survey

    Would it be safe to say;
if I do not use sheet manager, site grading and hydrology,
that I should be able to just use C3D instead of LDD2006/Survey?
All I need to do are small survey maps, import/export points.
    Thanks

If you need Survey then you will have to keep using LDT for a year or 2. By
then it should be incorporated into C3D.

What have you been using the Survey Module for?

    I haven't been.
I work for a surveyor and he thought we should buy it.
I don't know exactly whatsurvey loads into LDD.
I use my own lisp routine for distance/bearing so I do not use the labels.
We just like the import/export points funtion.
    Thanks.

Well. C3D will Import/Export points. But if you have the Survey Module for
LDT I'd suggest you look into Description Keys and Figures. That a big step
in Field to Office automation. Then you'd at leas get some of your
    investment out of it.

Why not just use Autodesk Map since it now has the terrain model features,
Point import, Key description files, etc.
Much less overhead and cheaper subscription.

Keep in mind that Survey provides additional functions that you would not
have with just Map, such as computing and balancing traverse closures,
entering traverses and field book data manually, and such. If you do field
survey work, then you likely would need software to do these things.
