Just got a notification from inside C3D itself that said there was a new hotfix. I let it download and install. What's odd is that there is no reference to it from the main site under service packs and updates.
Anyone else get the notification?
any new updates usually show up inside the product first then autodesk uploads it their website
but yes it shows up in mine

I got the notificaiton. When I try to install it, it brings up Windows Explorer. Windows Explorer blocks it. When I pick to Allow Blocked Content I get this error: Error Applying Patch. It says to restart computer and try again. That didn't work so I guess I'll wait for it to be posted on their site.

Surface analysis data is now retained as expected after rebuilding the surface.
Whoohoo!
You can also read the readme HERE instead of downloading it if you want.
I had the same - got the notification. Tried it a couple of times, but it just wouldn't download. Doesn't bode well when even getting the hotfix doesn't work !
Despite that, I'm glad to see that apparently the surface analysis issue on rebuild has been addresssed.

I just tested it and, indeed, the surface analysis is not reset during rebuild.
Thanks Civil 3D team for getting this fixed with the first hot fix!
Thanks for the link.

I've never, ever had that work in the past either, so I always go to the site and download. I want to read the readme file before installing anyway. On the other hand, I have several other apps (most are freeware) whose built in updates work flawlessly.

Theoretically they should be the same. But I haven't tried it yet.

I have no idea if this has anything to do with the Hotfix. But when setting up the network license for Infrastructure Design Suite Premium 2014 I had a lot of problems. I needed to also be able to run Civil 3D 2012 (we never installed 2013). The basis of the problem was that an installation that was only C3D 2012 is identified and C3D_2012. An installation from Infrastructure Design Suite Premium is identified as IDSP_2012. So I got a network license that included IDSP_2012 not C3D_2012 so 2012 wouldn't find a license. There was supposed to be an IDSP_2012 hotfix that would solve that but it wouldn't run. Support finally got me going.
My point is that the Civil 3D 2014 hotfix would have to identify both types of installation. I've noticed that since Autodesk has upped the C3D licenses to IDSP licensed. They tend to work as if everyone now has IDSP. Again. I have no idea if this is the case. It's just something that occurred to me.
