thanks for the discussion. Hardware acceleration 'on' was the difference maker.

Folks - I'm after an update on this topic.
I have the same issue - I have a volume surface displayed as 2D elevation. I wish to make this surface display 50% transparent (overlay on aerial photograph), I've tried the suggestions in this thread to date. My graphics card is a consumer nvidea card rather than quadro, but I really doubt that is the issue. Have Autodesk fixed the problem that they acknowledged in neilyj's post?
Thanks
- Mick

I guess we'll just have to wait for this elusive service pack then...

I noticed that this still hasn't been fixed. Very disappointing since I switched over to 2013 and I KNOW it worked well in 2012. I use the transparency for the elevation all the time so that I can use images and other features in the drawing. PLEASE FIX!!!![]()

Yes rbunner, no fix at all.. I can't understand why they went backwards like this.
I tried to change Visual Style to realistic or shaded... I was able to get surface transparency but it demands a lot of my processor or graphic card... Can't work with this...
Let's see the C3D 2013 SP2...

We are now in 2013 and i am sure all of you are awaiting a fix for this. I am now well and truly sick of exploding my surfaces to get transparency to work in them.
Looking forward to update to fix!.
