    Best place to learn?

    79 Views, 6 Replies

    We purchased LDT and C3D a few months ago. I've had training in LDT and I'm
    coming along pretty well. But I haven't had any actual training in C3D yet
    (I have gone though the tutorials and I understand the basics). What are
    the best resources for learning C3D (books, web sites, etc.)?

    Thanks

    Hey John;

    Besides the ones you've mentioned, some of the resellers are gearing up to
    provide these services. Together with AD own capable (though a little pricey
    for most of the smaller firms, maybe) consulting branch, you should be able
    to get direct instruction shortly from those entities.

    And of course, there's always this venue to be perused.

    I would start here maybe:
    http://estore.autodesk.com/dr/v2/ec_MAIN.Entry10?V1=675372&PN=1&SP=10023&xid=19515&CID=134779&DSP=&CUR=840&PGRP=0&CACHE_ID=134779

    The price is right - now where did Bob Barker run off to?

    Just took a 3 day LDT > C3D course at my resellers. They included the
    Essentials book and some other training guides on a CD. I would say that the
    training is as much in it's infancy as the program. But I got a lot out of
    the course. Most important was what I wont be able to do with the software
    yet.

    The instructor was very honest with us. Of course he is a consultant. Not an
    employee of autodesk or our reseller.

    The opinion most of us in the class came away with is that this will be a
    great program and offers a lot already. But there are may thing that can
    still only be done in Land and Civil design.

    Hey Allen;

    Too true, but my guess is that the Calculation portion of C3D Pipes will hit
    the streets with the first Service Pack for 2006.

    These folks are on the fast-track.

    I would like to see them compete with CadApps-AU in developing a Imperial
    alternative to Advanced Road Design.

    Comments from Laurie or Rad? Dave, Dan?

    I believe that they have restrictions on what they are allowed to "give away
    for free" by way of service packs. It is my understanding that they must
    receive some kind of payment for any new features that they provide (ie:
    anything that is not a bug fix). This has what they have said in the past,
    anyways.
