Pipe lateral ovals on Structures

Description:
Showing the little oval on the pipe network structure where a lateral connects into a manhole or inlet.

How Used:
An inlet or manhole that has 3 pipes connecting to it in a "T" shape. If you profile the top of the "T". In LDT, Pipeworks will show an oval where the lateral connects into the inlet/manhole on the profile. Civil 3D DOES NOT! That needs to be addressed.

One step further:
While we are adding this issue, why don't we do one better! If the oval is on the backside of the inlet have it show with a hidden linetype; on the front side a solid linetype.

Feature Affinity:
Piping in Civil 3D 2006....or as far as I can tell 2007.

What also may be nice is to show all of the crossings.

I wrote a VBA for LDT that will insert the crossings in the profile. It is fairly involved but has saved us alot of time.

Crossings in Civil 3D are easy. Just use the Override style in the profile properties dialog. See http://civil3drocks.blogspot.com/2006/06/civil-3d-nuts-and-bolts-showing-and.html

With LDT you could always insert iterferences. Pipes-->Finsh Draft Profile-->Align/Run Interferences Message was edited by: mspatz

yeah but it doesnt work if part masking is involved

nor does it work when you want to show the end of a pipe that is not
crossing as an oval.

there are missing pieces for sure

(thanks for the blog post plug!)
