Alignment, Profile, Feature Line - Hybrid Object

This model space object will look and have the appearance of an Alignment in plan view, and will have all the current editing and labeling capabilities of an Alignment, Profile and Feature Line.

Vertical curve design in plan view example:

In model space plan view the user will be able to pick two points to specify the length for a vertical curve. For example, creating a sag curve over an existing channel.

The user could design using two horizontal viewports if desired, and when editing the Hybrid object in plan view, they can watch the updates on the Profile View. The Profile can be edited as usual, and the Hybrid object would be dynamic to those changes.

Corridor Target:

The Hybrid object can be selected as a Corridor Target if desired, and in one pick the user can establish both a horizontal and vertical target, and not be required to make two choices, as currently, one for Offset and one for Elevation.

Right-Clicking on the object would show an array of choices on an object-context shortcut menu:

  • Show the Alignment Editor
  • Show the Profile Editior
  • Create Profile View
  • Feature line funtionality: elevation editing commands, add to surface as breakline, delete breakline from surface
  • Add as Corridor Target with corridor regions being identified by highlighting as the mouse hovers over the regions.
  • Object Properties with Labeling

  • The idea is to not have to go to the Ribbon very often during design.
  • Have more design capability in Plan view.
