Structures move with XML import/export

A moderator can move this thread to the general civil3d thread, but this problem cropped up while using HSE.

I'm having a problem on the XML import process to Civil 3d that my pipe network is laterally shifting about 3 feet (a mix of x and y movement)

I export to XML from civil 3d
Import XML into HSE and then Export to XML

when I import that XML from HSE into Civil 3d the pipe network has laterally moved about 3 feet southwest.

I've isolated this problem to Civil 3d because when I export an XML from civil 3d with a pipe network then reimport that same XML the shift occurs. So the error is occuring somewhere in the import process.

My XML settings have disabled translation/rotation etc. Any suggestions? Edited by: Mattmitts1949 on Nov 18, 2008 9:15 PM

Hi Mattmitts1949,

Look at your Civil 3D Units. The clever people in the USA defined two
types of foot and shifts of this order often arise from importing the
data in one unit and transforming to the other.

It may be worth searching the NGs as this issue has been discussed many
times by users who understand it instead of those in the rest of the
world which is metrically blessed.

Another reason why the US should go to metric. I hate buying two sets of tools.
