unable to add survey point manually

Survey database is open for edit, drawing displays survey points and figures from imported survey data files. When I try to use _AeccCreatePointManual, after selecting a location, entering a description and elevation, no point is created. The command appears to complete and gives no error but no point shows up in the drawing or survey database. Default layer is <use current>.

Verify the NextPointNumber does not equal an existing point number.

I did check that and set it to a number beyond the last existing point number.

Where do you go to verify what the next point number will be

2 places it can be set. One is under Settings, Points, Command, CreatePoints, right click, Edit Command Settings, Point Identity.

The other is in the dialog for creating points:

Points>Create Points>

You'll get a dialog box and click on Point Identity.

Have you checked your POINT STYLE/LABEL STYLE?
