survey points lock up.

I find that occasionally my survey points and figure "lock up" and I get the little lock symbol in my survey workspace.(see attached picture).

I'm not knowingly using projects or vault.. just trying to keep it simple. Typing "checkout" into C3d help doesn't shed any light either.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

OK, after a day or 2 the points are no longer "locked",-- what is going on here? It seems like its got something to do with point protection but seriously.....
