the X value which is the section distance, and Y values are elevation.

Y - values how to limit them to 50' range.

X - values 23' range.

When you create the section views you have the option to limit the width and height, or to allow them to extend to the limits of the sampled data.

Technically, that's not a section view, that's the corridor section editor (just so others reading this post won't get confused).

To edit the display, go to the ribbon tab Section Editor and on the View Tools panel select the command View/Edit Options. That should get you the settings you are looking for.
