profile view offsets - again/still

yes, it's me again. no, i still cannot get this to work.
i am attaching the file that is giving me heartburn. if anyone would like to take a crack at getting this to work, i would appreciate any feedback.

i would like to see a centerline and 25' lt and 25' rt offset in profile view. in the attached file, any offset over 7' gives an unexpected output.

i have gone so far as to create a new file import the points, set up a surface, etc. i have sampled contours, adjusted weeding factors. basically i have started from scratch and i still get the errors in output. in a previous post, i thought that i had figured out a work around to this problem. now that i have moved on to a different alignment, the problem is back and the work around doesn't work.

if there is something that i am missing, please put me out of my misery before i throw myself under a bus.

I am not quite sure about all your problems, but it appears that when your
25' offset crosses itself near the end, problems arise.
I moved your ending point further than 25' from your orig. center line and
things seem to self-correct.

thanks. that is odd. i will try breaking the alignment into two pieces and see if that helps since i need the alignment to end at the 22+57 station.

did you notice that the +25' offset stops at 5+09.48? any thoughts on that one?

Because of how offset samples are created we must also consider beyond the
start and end of an alignment by the amount of the offset. This means that
in your drawing once the end of your alignment ended 50' or more from first
tangent of your alignment (near station 5+30) the entire right sampled
profile was created.

You can see some evidence of this when you simply use the OFFSET command on
an alignment. A fair amount of clean-up is calculated. This clean-up is what
is stopping the +25 offset short. This is always a potential problem when
alignments loop around or double back.

thanks to you both for the posts. it really helps (me anyway) to have the additional information of 'why' a thing is happening.
