profile view in P&P's won't show added profiles

This post is on behalf of the guys at work. They are more
familiar with Civil 3D than I am. In talking with the head engineer about all the useful postings in the website, he mentioned a problem they haven't been able to resolve. It goes like this. According to him, they can't seem to get the profile views created during the plan production process to update with profiles added to original base (design) dwg.
It seems this profile is xref as a shortcut when the individual shts. are setup. In addition, a separate profile view gets created during the plan production process. I found this out
in going thru the steps in a test dwg. The overall profile that is xref as a shortcut does update but not the profile view which serves as the profile for each p&p sheet. Are we just missing something during the plan production process or does one have to re-cut the sheets every time profiles are added to the original design dwg. I don't think so. But then again you never know. Sorry for the lengthy post. I hope I'm clear on this. Any help will be appreciated.

You're not missing anything. You need to either re-run your sheet creation or create a shortcut for the new profile and reference it into the sheets drawing. It will be automatically added to each profile view.

If you have several sheet drawings, I suggest you post to the Civil 3D Customization group and see if someone has a routine or is willing to whip something out for you.

I had actually tried the shortcut creation and referenced it to the individual sheets before getting your response. It worked fine. I believe the engineer I work with had been trying to avoid re-creating the shts. since alot of labeling had already been done in paper space before the new profile was added. If I remember correctly shortcuts are automatically created during sheet generation in Civil 3d 2008. Is this so? If this is the case should profiles in individual sheets update every time the base (design) dwg is modified? Why weren't shortcuts automatically created when I performed the test in Civil 3d 2009? I had to manually do this.

Any clarification on this?
