profile not created in p&p tools

I'm running 2010 and when I try to create sheets using the plan and production tools the profile does not appear on my sheets. The file is large and crashes autocad on my computer when I try to create them so I had to use a coworkers faster machine. At first I didn't set the data shortcuts directory, but even once I did that, it still doesn't work. I get no errors when the sheets are created (did before I pathed ds). When I go into model space there is no smaller profile view created.

Any suggestions? Need to have these sheets by the end of the day.
thanks,
-jakub

need to have them by the end of the day, and you had to go on another machine to keep from crashing? Wow.
You better just explode that profile and xref in using traditional methods. You will not have time to troubleshoot and
meet a deadline.

I wonder what the prople that market C3D would say here? If they are honest, they will tell you to never use C3D in
production until you have tested it on non-critical drawings. You have to ease into C3D, jumping in like you are trying
is dangerous to your career unless you have an expert available at your office. DG help will not cut it.

should have left that part out and maybe i would have gotten a real answer. this isn't a critical deadline, just drawings to show progress, so i know that if i get to a certain point and can't get this to work, i have to cut sheets manually, but thanks for the advice. i'm not jumping into civil 3d as i've been using it for over 2 years now, i was just hoping to get some tips by someone who might have encountered this problem.

anyway, back to the actual problem at hand. i created a new drawing, data shortcutted the alignment and profile, create sheets, and it works. deleted all surfaces, xrefs, audited, and purged the original drawing and it still doesn't work in there. odd. at least now i have a work around. but still want to figure out why i can't create sheets directly out of my original file.

Maybe try creating your frames or sheets from a shorter alignment range
instead of the entire length. Maybe try not to add all sheets to a single
file...less than 10 layouts per sheet.

James, where does it say he's jumping into Civil 3D? Why would the Civil 3D
marketing team advise not to use the product in production when it clearly
works well for many users?

Indeed DG help will not cut it if they keep reading posts like the one
below.
