profile labels

I have been having a problem with labels in my profile. I have created multiple labels and have dragged them around and custimized their location. when I go out of the file and come back in, they all return to their original positions. It doesn't make much sense to be able to move a label, if it returns to its original position every time you open the drawing. I have heard that locking the layer helps with this, but this doesn't seem practical, that everyone who is working on the job would have to remember to lock the layer before they exit the drawing. Any advice?

I am running Autocad Civil 3D 2008, SP2. Again, I am interested in finding out why the profile labels I have dragged do not stay in their position when I close and come back into the drawing. Thanks. We are also having problems with pipe network labels in section view disappearing in an xref. They show just fine in the design file, but they disappear in the sheet file. Any help on this would help as well. Thanks.

I do not recall that being a problem.  Perhaps
you need to do a repair.  It takes about 15 minutes.  Have you done
that?
