line labeling

i need to label building dimensions in my as builts - Usually I will draw the building outline using a polyline - then when I label it i use - add label - line & curve - single segment and lots of times that works just fine labeling each side of the building - but sometimes I get line labels that give me the whole legnth of the polyline - could someone explaine to me what is going on

The "Property" set within the contents of the Label style composer is likely set to "General Overall Length" if using a Line Label style.

Change it to "General Segment Length" (which will label between line vertices).

You might also look at converting that pline to a parcel. I use it all the time to label existing buildings and give the a little style. Crosshatch around the outside etc... Just need to use sites so they dont mess with other things.
