importing points from existing postgreSQL database.

all

we are still having probelms with importing points from an existing postgreSQl data base. if we use .txt file points are in correct elevation.

elevations in point files are not being read by autocad civeil 3d 2013.

is this something that autocad civil 3d cant do or a i missing a setting somewhere.

if you have a small point file that when inserted has 3d info and points are in correct elevation (not zero). we are looking for reasons/solutions to this problem. sorry info/drawing is proprietary

thank you all for yout time.

If you have a text file that contains at a minimum NEZ (Northing, Easting and Elevation) you should be able to import those points with Elevations. Now whether the point ends up inserted at 0, the point elevation or an exaggeration thereof. Depends on the settings in the point style.

I would consider "Use Point Elevation" to be correct. This will insert the marker at the elevation specified in the text file. One thing to remember is that the program can extract the elevation from the point object even if it is inserted at 0 elevation. So points inserted at 0 can still be used to create Surfaces and draw Featurelines. You can even draw lines and 3Dpolylines at elevation using the 'PO transparent commands. I don't know what you'll be using the points for. But I thought I'd throw that in.
