how to turn off the "circle" thing in civil 3d

someone told me once a long time ago it's something to do with surfaces. i don't remember the variable now.

see attached.

it's an annoying circle block that always stay the same size when you zoom.

thanks man

it's variables like this makes you wonder:

1. why does it exist?

2. why does it gets turned on by itself?

seriously they need to get rid of some useless variables.

Please remember that there are many people using Civil3D for many purposes, with just as many work flows.  What is useless to you is critical to others, and vice versa.

Settings usually don't change randomly, they are changed for a purpose.  What can happen is they are changed inside a specific function but not restored when that function is cancelled or experiences an unexpected stoppage.  They may also changed as part of a function to assist the user, with the expectation that they are to stay on for the next step(s) in the process.

i know what you are saying.

you are right about the crashing and variable change and i know that's exactly what happened.

like the filedia.

just saying minor nusances. no big deal i already learnt to live with it.

no complain about autocad and civil 3d speeds. it runs slow but still all the automation you can do with it and get job done faster than ustn+inroads is well worth the occasional crashes.

so tell me what that geomarker is for? does it tell you the centroid of all the models or what? looking at the help file doesn't explain anything.

set the variable in your acaddoc.lsp file and never be troubled by it again; also set FILEDIA while you are there
