how to export surfaces created in Civil 3D to Inventor or IGES file ?

Recently we have the necessity to export the terrain surfaces created in Civil 3D to 3D modeler like Inventor using file formats like IGES, SAT etc

If anyone has a solution or work around please tell me.

i have had some limited success making the surface look like TIN, rotating into 3D, exploding twice and using the 3D Autocad tools to turn it into an autocad surface/faces.

just the exploding twice (first makes it a block, second makes it either a polyface or a collection of 3d faces, i forget) might be enough to take it over to inventor if inventor will bring in autocad entities...?
