grading groups & surface styles

I have a surface automatically generated from a grading group, but I cannot set my surface style to display contours or any other surface style item. I can create a surface from breaklines and the contour surface style displays just fine.

why,

Paul

Have you audited or recovered the drawing? Sounds like a drawing issue. Can
you reproduce in a different drawing?

Yes..Civil 3d crashes often when I try to use the grading commands. I am about to pull my hair out trying to use this software. I have installed all the latest patches. I wasted a full day yesterday trying to get civil3d just to draw contours. It's time to go back to just using LDD.

I will take your advice try to start a new drawing and insert my grading objects to see if that works, but I can not rely on Civil 3d for production, my time is just too valuable. I will continue to try to learn this software just to keep up with the pack, but I would love to have this software work like it promises. It's like have a employee that only show up for work only a few hours a day.

Thanks for the reply.

Did you test it on a pilot project before moving into production?

Pilot Project???? I am not sure what that really means. I guess you can call the project I am working on the "Pilot Project" Then Yes.... Civil 3D grading has failed the test. I have read alot of posts on this forum about the Grading crashing, so I don't think I am alone in my frustraction. Atsome point the pilot project got to go into production, otherwise is not productive. I got to keep pushing on with Civil3D, someday LDD will not be hear to fall back on.
