editable linetype

has anyone come up with an editable linetype? for example, instead of having linetypes for 8" AC, 8" DI, 8" PVC, there would be a linetype that you could type in the text you want. we use lots of different linetypes that we only use once or rarely. it seems like it would be useful.

This is not possible given how linetypes are generated within AutoCAD. Now,
a routine could be created that arrays that text along a line, but it will
not move with the line unless the routine is written in a certain manner.
In any case, it won't be a linetype and will require the use of that
routine.

LTFLY is pretty good
'LTFly - automatically generate AutoCAD complex linetypes (with embedded
text) on the fly (VLX LISP)'

I think you can use a labelled alignment style for this. I don't have C3D at home, but I am sure we started to look at this a year or two back. the beauty is that you can have plan readable labels in the "linetype"..
