Hi there,
It's been several times i came across the command or icon DbConnect.
I've spent a bit of time googling about the subject and just results of people who arent able to connect instead of seeing it at work.
What are the possibilities of using a database and connecting it to the drawing ?

Forget about DBConnect, that's a vanilla Autocad tool. If you are using Civ3D you have all the Map3D funtions to connect to databases using data connect (FDO) and Mapattachdb. search for those terms and you should find more info on them.
Hi there Murph,
First of all, thanx for replying.
I'm not famillior with the term "vanilla" in Autocad ?
What does it mean ?
I will search a bit more on Mapattachdb command.
But that's for working with survey's and data like that or there can be other applications ?
"Vanilla" is the term for plain Autocad, no favors among Autocad geeks/junkies/nerds.
There are other applications for Mapattachdb besides survey data. What type off database and data are you wanting to connect to?
Use the dbconnect command and select to view the tables/queries. You may need to connect to the DB (in the same folder) and use MS Jet drivers.
Hey hi Murph !
I opened Autocad Vanilla to use the Dbconnect command. (I just learned that ...)
Now i think that nothing happens because i cant connect to the db ?
Do i need to install some sort of server to use the database ?
Sounds like those 64-bit Jet drivers aren't working properly, sir.
What about renting your AD dealer for 1-2 hours, just to let him configuring all..?
If your dealer went yesterday bankrupt, well, try to join your vector shape to the external database, thru the opensource Qgis.
Once you have the new "clever" shape, you load and label it in Civil.
Try going into the ODBC Administrator for 32 bit and set up an odbc connection. You may also need the 64 bit drivers from Microsoft.
HI there,

Afterall it's 15 years old version of Autocad.
