cross section

hi
i made sub assembly using polyline and daylight general but when i do a cross section my subassembly does not look like i have drawn it, i don't seem to have this trouble with flat bottom ditches just circular bottom ditches

i would appreciate any help

sorry i put the wrong title is is about making a custom assembly and applying it to the alignment

Did you add the appropriate link codes to the subassembly? It looks like the surface creation is not adding the information to the surface because it isn't assigned as Top or what ever other value you use.

how do i add codes, like i saw the option to add codes when you click on subassmblies but how do i do it?

Hit F1 while in Civil 3D, do a search for "Adding Codes to a Subassembly" and follow the directions under the procedure tab.

i have been reading about creating assembly and even in the books i have they don't go lot in to making your own sub assemblies with polylines,, do people generally try to work with what is provided or do u have many situation where you have to make your own sub assembly

Most of the time I use what is provided. In the past I have created from polyline and have created a subassembly from scratch for another office. Using the polyline and creating a custom subassembly is rare.
