White asterisk marking centre point of drawing

This has been bugging me for a while, and I can find no info in help or the forums. (Probably because I have no idea what terms to search for.)
When I save a dwg, a symbol appears in the screen and it then stays there.
It seems to mark the central point of the entire drawing and it serves no useful purpose that I can see.
It is obstructive and irritating, as it is quite large, and white and it obscures any objects that happen to be near it.
Could someone please tell me what, and where, the setting is to turn it off?

Thanks

PJ

I heard it being called a wagon wheel, pizza, and a daisy before. It's
official name is geomarker.

GEOMARKERVISIBILITY = 0
Might want to put that in a startup routine.

Thanks,
er, start up routine?
Does that mean that the setting doesn't stay set?

If so how do I do that?
Thanks again

That variable is at the dwg level so it stays in the dwg file only. What you
can do is open the dwt you use for any new dwgs and set it then save the
dwt. Startup routine as in any lisp that gets loaded at startup such as
ACADDOC.LSP. If the help files can not explain it to you (search
acaddoc.lsp) others in here might go into depth more on it or over in the
customization group.

I've updated my two dwts.

what is the geomarker good for anyway?

A whole bunch of questions in a newsgroup?

Look in the Autocad help under "Overview of Geographic location" for
Autodesk's description of it.
