Where is an Offset 3D Polyline command?

Where is an Offset 3D Polyline command?

I need a command that does this & I don't want it to have anything to do with the Civil 3D Grading menu or Feature Lines.

I need to be able to offset a regular AutoCAD 3D polyline by a horizontal offset and elevation difference to create new 3D polylines.

(Then I'm going to make these into Surface breaklines without using any Civil 3D Feature Lines or Gradings.)

Hi lohrmach,

There isn't one.

Civil 3D provides you with tools to do the equivalent.

If you don't wish to use the Civil 3D tools, then you will have to code
you own methods.

This works great. I didn't notice that the Feature Line tools (at least the ones I was looking for) also work on 3D polylines and not just on Civil 3D feature lines.

I've been having a lot of problems with Gradings - this explains my aversion to the Gradings menu. But if I can use Feature Line tools on 3D polylines - that's what I was looking for and that's fine.

I'll forgive you this time Laurie because it's Friday, but [...there isn't
one], you must not be looking in the correct place or you forgot or
something. Stepped Offset works just fine.

Hi Matt,

What's to forgive?

I told him Civil 3D has tools to do the equivalent (I didn't name
"Stepped offset" as the OP Stated categorically he did not want to use
the Civil 3D Grading menu) and that standard AutoCAD doesn't unless you
program.

I know you are never wrong but my opinion is that Matt and I both think the
OP was referring to using the Grading Objects (Grading Tools Creation).
Maybe we will get an answer.

If that doesn't say the OP doesn't want to use the the Civil 3D Grading
menu, then I need to start to learn English from scratch.

Anyhow the pedantry of the latter part of the conversation is pointless,
as after I posted the OP acknowledged changing his mind following

Yes, I should have more clearly stated that I was looking for a command that did not involve Feature Lines or Grading Objects. I incorrectly assumed that nearly all of the commands on the Civil 3D Grading menu were intended for these objects alone. I did not realize that many edit Feature Line commands could also be used on AutoCAD 3D polylines (without having to create Feature Lines or Grading Objects). Because some of them, including Stepped Offset, can be used on 3D polylines - that's what I needed.

Marvellous. At last I can apologise for misinterpretation of gender.

If you don't use anonymous names, people are far less likely to make
this type of mistake.

I simply create confusion from the USA tradition of naming females
Laurie, whereas in most other countries the name is mainly used for males.
