I am trying to teach myself vba programming for AutoCAD applications. Can some one recommend a book or web site that can walk me through the processes?

Check Amazon, etc., for anything by Joe Sutphin.

If it's Civil 3D you're interested in writing for, fire up Help, then
click on the link to Active X and VBA Reference link. In the "Autodesk
Civil 3D 2006 API Help" guide, look under "Getting Started," especially
the section "Obtaining the AeccApplication and AeccRoadwayApplication
Objects. That shows you the minimum startup code you'll need to get
access to the application via VBA.

Then you can look at the "Code Examples" help page which describes all
the samples that are installed on your system. You can work not only
with VBA, but VB, C++, C# and VB.NET.

Looking at the samples on your system should get you started on working
with various entities in Civil 3D. If you need information on any
particular entity, how to access its data, and what operations you can
perform on it, you can refer back to the reference help.

Another good book is "VB & VBA in a Nutshell" by Paul Lomax, it's an
O'Reilly book. It won't help you with the AutoCAD side, but it's great for
general VBA questions.

Hi Eric,

Personal opinions only:

I found Andrew Roe's book "Using Visual Basic with AutoCAD" the best initial
learning tool.

Joe Sutphin's book is an excellent reference, rather than a learning tool.

On Peter Funk's advice I also bought the "VB in a Nutshell" book, but found
it very heavy going.
