Updated Civil 3D 2014 Bridge Module

Hi Everyone – We recently learned that the AutoCAD Civil 3D R2014 Bridge Module has a license check that results in the utility no longer working after July 1, 2013. This appears to be an installation artifact from when this was an Autodesk Labs project.

A replacement version is available for Infrastructure Design Suite – Premium/Ultimate subscribers on subscription center. Note that you’ll need to uninstall the original version before installing the updated build. There are no changes to the core utility itself - just the license date verification.

We apologize for any inconvenience.

Hi,

I I have installed the Infrastructure Ultimate 2014 and Bridge Modeler. When I try to select any command of the bridge modeler pops up a message saying the following: "Evalution your period has expired on 4/15/2010"

Do you know how to solve this annoying issue? 🙂

tks

My version is the same.  7.5.1.0

Hi - I just tested this... The version number is the same (7.5.1.0) with both. Not ideal but we were trying to get something available as quickly as possible.

Please confirm that the you installed from file named: ids_2014_bridge_module_64bit_english_r1.exe

The original (with timebomb) was from file name: ids_2014_bridge_module_64bit_english.exe (no _R1).

Most likely this is a case of you not having the correct install. If not, email me directly and we'll see if we can figure out what's happening.

Thanks

Your screen-shot shows a date of 03/07/2013. I don't see the headers but if that's the install date it's not the update being discussed. You would need to download the new version from the subscription site. Not sure if that's the problem. I'm just going by the Jpeg you attached.

Or in this case 09/07/2013 (it's not American date style in that screenshot).

Good catch! Obvious once it's pointed out. That's why I prefer letters instead of numbers for the month. MAR 17 2013 and 17 MAR 2013 are immediately understandable without knowing the format. It's not like we still need to save a precious few bytes anymore.

Be that as it may. If that is the install date it's the 3rd of July. The updated Bridge Module wasn't uploaded to the Subscription site until the 9th of July. So a reinstall wit the current release is still the first step in attempting to address the problem

Make sure you completely uninstall the old one first. Since the version number was not incremented (Dave said they wanted to get something out fast), my fear is that the new installer sees the old version whose number matches the new version, so it doesn't replace the files. If you blow the old oen away first, the installer will have to add teh new files.

Dave,

Just fix the problem. Indeed the problem was the version. I downloaded the latest available ids_2014_bridge_module_64bit_english_r1.exe and works perfectly.

Thanks a lot!

Thank you for the detailed error report. By any chance are there any special characters, i.e., nontraditional ASCII, in the path to where the DLL is located? That might be confusing the DLL loader.

Hi Scott,

Looks like the concrete slab DLL is here:

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Autodesk Shared\Extensions 2014\Modules\Bridges\DBridgesConcreteSlab

I wonder if the 'type' of version I am using could be a problem.

I am using a Home license on a private PC ... I do a lot of testing using this license before methods are implemented in the office.

I don't think this is a licensing issue. That would show up as part of installing. THe code is loading and running but is crashing. I will send to the team and hopefully one of them will chime in with suggestions.

update...

I have asked our service provider (Autodesk reseller) to use the same sample DWG to see if he encounters the same error.

update...

Service provider unable to help, currently overloaded    : (

Media requested, hopefully installing from the Media set instead of the online download will provide the missing items causing the error ???
