Unlocked points on frozen layer move/copy?

Say your drawing has all of your points in it and are not locked. You freeze
the layer that the pointgroup is on so you cannot see any of the points. Now
move some linework, using a window/crossing selection method, to a blank
area of the drawing. Now thaw the frozen pointgroup layer.......how/why do
the points that were frozen get moved with the linework?????

This appears to me to be a CRITICAL glitch in the software design. If anyone
thinks that this is the way it should be, please enlighten me why you
believe this.

Jeff -

I tried what you did and replicated the error, and yes, it's a problem.
I don't know if it's a glitch or by design, but it's not a good idea.

The good news is that I did come up with a workaround for you - create a
new point style and call it NULL. On the display tab, turn everything
off (point label and point marker). Now, assign this point style to
your point group that you were freezing. This will control the
visibility and still allow you to move/copy linework that you've drawn
between points WITHOUT moving the points.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Jason.

Yes, I came up with a few workarounds, but the problem is now every user
that has ALWAYS just frozen a layer to keep from affecting the objects on
that layer MUST remember to do something other than what they are used to.
This is especially troublesome since the Move/Copy command reports that it
"Found X objects", with X being equal to the number actually selected, so
the user has no idea that the points are going to be affected....until it's
too late.

I do not understand how this is happening. I rotated my points the other day, not thinking about having NAILS frozen. All the points rotated, except the NAILS. This cost me some embarrassment...
I guess it was the way I selected my points to rotate. I used the "quick select" command and selected point groups - select all. but it did not get the "frozen" point groups.

I have a point group called nails and a group called prop corners. I froze these groups layers and moved the parcel lines attached to them did not have the same results. My points stayed in the same spot. Is there something I am missing?
