Trouble with DWGConvert

Ive been trying to use dwgconvert to do a batch conversion with bound xrefs for a client without 3d autocad.

the interfcae and report say the drawings are converted with zero errors.  But the resulting files have the xrefs missing instead of bound to the final drawing.

Do the dwgs and xref dwgs have to be in the same folder for it to work?

Are nested xrefs a problem?

what am I missing here.

Hi,

Can you go to Options menu>AEC Editor tab and check the export to AutoCAD options. See image:

yeah, those options are set.  still no luck getting them to bind.

I can do them one at a time using export.

but that can waste half a day on a good size project.  Dwgconvert is supposed to allow me to do that conversion in a batch.

I cant get it to work.

For batch exports, try using the Batch Converter found in your File menu (CommandLine: CIVILBATCHCONVERTER). There are a number of options to choose from including the option to change file format, explode objects and bind/insert XREFs.

that seems to work fine, untill it runs into a surface or any other 3d object.

It will tell me I have the option to use proxy objects ( viewable, not editable)  but wont seem to actually convert them.

it just gives me an error doesn't convert any dwg with 3d objects.

You'll have to explode civil 3D / aecc objects for them to be viewable at all. Also make sure you have Object Conversions checked.

there's no way to do I direct conversion and leave 3d objects viewable, but not editable, without exploding all the 3d objecst?

and if you explode a surface... how do you keep your contour labels?

How do you keep your profiles and cross sections accurate?
