Tif Images take forever to load

We recently bought new computers for our department with Windows 7 - 64 bit.  I installed Civil 3D 2011 and when I go to load aerial GIS  photographs in TIF format, they take forever to load.  They are each about 100 MB.  On our old PC's running XP in Land Desktop Civil 3D 2009, we had no problem loading them.  In addition, drawings where the images are unloaded but not detached either take forever to open or lock up and dont open at all.  Anyone have any ideas??

Hi acgod24,

I belive the issue is due to the image size. I found that things work better witl large georeferenced files if images are imported through Task Pane. (To turn it on type MAPWSPACE and ON). There you can use Data connect and connect to the image.

Use the MAPIOPTIONS command and make a few changes. (see attached)

Second make sure the network drive is mapped to as a drive lettter, and the folder the images are in are in your support paths as one of the first in the list. Also that the network is up to speed and not timing out, then check to see if any antivirus software is scanning the images. Disable scanning them if you can.

Good suggestions so far.  In case Vault is in your working environment, you should also see DL15502603.
