The layers in DWG. are not printing

The layers in AutoCAD Civil 3d 2011 dwg. are not plotting.  They are all unfrozen and not checked for no plot. 
Any suggestions

The the little blue box under the status column is greyed out and not blue.  How do I change that.

Is SHOWLAYERUSAGE set to 1? If it is. A grey layer would indicate that the layer is not in use. If you think there are entities on that layer, use refresh ref.PNG. See if it changes. Also check your layer names carefully. Sometimes a small variation can trip you up.
