Task Pane on start-up?

How can I eliminate this window from loading on start up?

Map-Options-Display Task Pane on Startup.

I know this is an old post, but since it just helped me answer a technical support question, I wanted to add an image and more detailed instructions to accompany @Anonymous's accepted answer for this question.

 

  1. At the command line, type MAPOPTIONS and then press Enter.
  2. Select the Task Pane tab.
  3. Locate the Startup options section.
  4. Uncheck Show Task Pane on startup
  5. Click OK.
