TEXT andMTEXT Editor issue when exiting

I have this issue which if resolved would make editing text much less fraustrating.  The editor (regardless of modes... legacy... etc and how I enter it) may or may not pause before popping up and closing out.  Its completely up to the computers feelings that day.  Worse yet is the issue when I close out.  I do all my editing with the ctrl-arrow keys and close out with the very handy ctrl-return.  This saves my wrist from having to move over to the mouse and click out.  Previous released this worked well however when exiting out there is a large delay at times.  The delay is random and is not their some days and is constant on others.  The delay can be a few seconds to 10-20 seconds.

This is really, really annoying when editing multiple text and you just want to get in and out of the editor.  Also annoying is that I can not escape out of the civil3d label editor with the ctrl-enter or any standard ctrl-keys.  I could rant about how terrible that editor truely is but I will save that and if anyone knows a way to edit civil3d tags through another method than the default editor it would be appreicated.

This is happening on civil3d 2012.  I have noticed that when the command line is detached there is a delay that drops some typed commands and causes issues but this delay is as if the drawing is saving or performing some kind of internals before snapping out of it.

Thanks

Can you set the DTEXTED System Variable to 1? This will automatically change the text object to MTEXT and uses the MTEXT Editor whenever a DTEXT object is double-clicked on for editing.

Do you have Civil 3D 2012 updates installed. If not, please install from here:

Hi Almas,

Thanks for the reply.  I figured this would have been burried deep by now.  I took another look at that particular setting and it does not change the actual text type (detext ro mtext).  My setting was set to 2.  I believe setting this to 1 only uses the legacy dialog editor instead of the inplace editor.  Changing it confirms that is all it does on my machine.  Double clicking and the DDEDIT command seem to do the same and not change the actual text type but the editor sytle that is used.  My speed problem has seems to come and go still and lately it has been better.

I do have all the latestest service packs installed.   I do have the setting for text in place editing enabled.  I have played with that setting as well but never helped the speed issue.

Thanks again,
