You mentioned the "Point Database". In Civil 3D there is no point database
other than the drawing. Same goes for alignments and surfaces. If you erase
it and there is no backup it is GONE.

Autodesk have plans underway for a Survey module, but no formal information
is available.

Am running evaluation for my company to see if civil 3D 2006 will provide
the same capabilities as LDT 2005 with Survey 2005. I can't seem to find the
place where I can import a field book into the points database or any
reference to description keys. We have a process whereby the field book is
imported, blocks are placed at recognised codes (pegs, power poles etc),
lines work is generated automatically and all data goes onto our companies
standard layers. Can this be done in Civil3D 2006 or not.
