Subassembly attachment

Is there a good technique to use to verify that different subassemblies are attached to each other correctly?  I am building an assembly with a series of generic sub assemblies and it appears that they are losing reference to the assembly as I am working through trouble shooting the assembly behavior.  When I link one sub assembly to another correctly it appears that they all move as a group when I move one of the sub assemblies.  Occasionally they no longer move as a group and appear to be independant.  Other than moving an sub assembly in layout view to see if the attached sub assemblies move with it, is there another way to verify that each subassembly is linked correctly?

I have never had a problem by moving the ASSEMBLY bar (only).  If the subassemblies all follow, it should be good to go.  Perhaps a regen will be needed.
