Subassembly Targets and Cross Sections

I was wondering if anyone knew what might cause the following.  I have an assembly with curb, gutter, sidewalk and a daylight subassembly.  I've generated an alignment and profile where I would like for the face of gutter to tie to the existing pavement.  The majority of cross sections show the face of gutter attaching to the existing surface properly, but for some reason, there are a few cross sections where the face of gutter attaches at a random point vertically to the existing surface.  The horizontal positioning is good.  I haven't been able to resolve this.

I have one other question.  Does anyone know why the daylight subassembly sometimes will attach to the target suface but doesn't always stop there?  There is a random line that continues into la-la land.  Sometimes for about a foot and other times for several feet.  Most of the time the line 'bounces' from the target surface upward at an angle.

Thanks for any input.

I will answer your second question.  It's very probable that your sample line does not lie exactly on top of a corridor section.  You really MUST have a corriddor sectio nat each and every sample line, or you WILL face this problem.  Many times, the gap is small anough not to notice but you can bet it'll be there.

Thanks for your help on the second issue.  I'm looking into the solution you suggested, but it doesn't seem to be the problem to all places where a sample line is drawn.  I'll reply back when I find out more.

What you are most likely seeing is the result of degenerate triangles in your corridor surface.  Apply a proper boundary (e.g. define a boundary from your daylight feature lines) and this will go away.
