Subassembly Problem

I am trying to create an assembly but it will not let me insert any subassemblies.

I've created many in the past. This problem started a few weeks back.

I can create the baseline but cannot add any subassemblies to it.

I can bring in a common assembly but I would like to create my own from scatch.

As a test.  When you have a sub-assembly that will not attach to the assembly, copy it and see if the copy will attach.

If you mean copy it from the tool palette, No that doesn't work.

I know that with some other issues, restarting the program sometimes works, but not with this.

Try copying the assembly in your Civil 3D window, renaming it, and then select it. What version are you using?
