Span Outside Segments not working

I know from a previous post that I should be able to label lot line from
corner of lot to corner of lot using "Span Outside Segments" set to "True"
under Label Style Composer Layout Tab, but I cannot get it to work. I still
get the measurement from the closest adjacent lot line that touches the lot
I am trying to label. Is there something else I have to do? I have tryed
"flip label" as well.

One person's opinion. When it works, be thankful. When it doesn't, move
on. When necessary, I just type it in.
