I've created my TIN Volume surface analysis with 40% transparency and also the Surface Legend table.
I can't figure out how to make the colours in this table transparent to match the surface i.e. which layer does the colour in the table get created on??
Any ideas how I can get this to work??
Thanks

Update -
The colour ranges seem to be on the layer specified in Settings > Object Layers (in this case C-TABLE-SURFACE_LEGEND) but changing the transparency of this layer changes the transparency of all other components of the table style which isn't what I want to do - so still no further forward........

Hi Neil,
What you are trying to do is not possible from the way that Civil 3D has the styles configured, the only way to accomplish this, is if you explode the table, create a new layer and move all the colors boxes to this new layer, after that you will be able to manipulate the transparency of this layer to match your surface.
Hope this help.
Thanks - it's at least confirmed that it is not possible to achieve and still retain the dynamic propertires of the table - presumably this shortcoming will be addressed in a future release

Hey Neil,
It appears you were still naïve in 2012. 😉

A half A'd work around, place a solid hatch in color 250 over the colors in the table, set the transparency of this hatch to around 1/2 the elevation layer transparency. It gets visually close enough as long as you don't have the table on top of or next to the surface.

I was able to solve this by creating two identical dynamic legend tables. One on a layer that is not faded and one that is on a layer that is faded. then I used the wipeout command to cover up the no transparent color squares and it looks perfect.
