don't hold your breath waiting. i had one submitted in 2008, was told it would be fixed in 2009. i sent one in 2009 when it wasn't fixed either but was told to use DWF. Our clients don't care about DWF they want to click on a file and view it not download junk from Autodesk and install it. PDF works pretty good for that. i didn't waste my time in 2010 because it didn't work then either and i didn't want to be lied to again. here we are in 2012 with the same issues. as the past four versions. i need to go. i have to start printing a 250 sheet set of plans one sheet at a time to PDF.
i started using Autodesk products in 1982ish. I'm so glad retirement is on the near horizon.

i have the same problem in 2011. back in 2009, i used to be able to print multi sheet PDF, instead of going straight for publish in SSM, i would go to publish options dialogue box, then import the PDF page setup from one of the files. with a PUBLISHCOLLATE setting of 1, i would be able to print one monster 200 page PDF this way. i have not tried this yet in 2011 (since the last time i was having trouble, i was in time crunch, and decided to print one at a time), so cannot confirm if the same workaround works.
I have been able to print (publish) multiple PDF's and DWFx's from SSM in 2012. I had troubles in 2011 going to PLT files though.
Have you tried the DWFx format? I was reluctant to use the DWF format myself but now I love the DWFx format. They are smaller, more powerful, and easier to use than PDF's. You don't need to download a separate piece of software to use them either.
I've been using DWF and design review for years. I just got everyone here on board with making electronic redlines when possible. They're great and truly do pack more punch than a PDF. Our clients are driving the bus and requiring PDF format. We use an electronic signature process that only works off PDF format.
I was able to get a set to publish to a multi-sheet PDF with the help of autodesk on Friday. I'm still having trouble with 2012 but I'm pretty sure that's a plan production tools issue and due to my trying to cheat the sheet set for testing.
To anyone having trouble with multi-sheet PDFs, first make sure your sheet set options are set to PDF and multi-sheet. Use the DWG to PDF.pc3 option only and it should work like a champ. We were trying to use page setup over rides.
