Sheet Set Manager Issue

I am trying to plot my sheet set through the sheet set manager and it is only plotting about the first half of the sheets. Then it gives me an error and cancels the rest of the plots. Any suggestions. I am using C3D 2010

What type of error are you getting? I usually get memory errors and a restart fixes that issue.

it is more like this:

Sheet: 01 COVER SHEET - Error(s) Did Not Plot

File: G:\2157\02\215702CVR01.dwg
Category name:
Page setup:
Device name:
Plot file path:
Paper size:

ERROR: None Plot Device. Configure a valid device before plotting.

This is the first we have had this problem. We always use the same configuration and it has always worked properly. We did just change over to 2010 a couple of weeks ago.

Double check that the sheet is set to print properly. I was had that issue once and I think it was because the default plot settings were incorrect. Are you using publish to plotter named in page setup? Or are you just clicking publish to plotter. If you use the publish dialog box I believe you can see if there are any issues with the layouts before you plot.

If you're publishing a set of drawings in 2010, try toggling the plot in background box on. I found that if i turned this off then each drawing would open and plot. By drawing 6 it was crashing consistently. Then i toggled plot in background and it no longer opened each layout to plot them and the whole 33 sheets plotted just fine.

Are you plotting images? adjust raster graphics to minimum in you plotter
config file
Also, if you are using the same config as alway : goto publish>> magage page
setups and you may find that somone muckes aroung with your files.

You should also check your "layoutRegenCtrl" and make sure it
is set to either 0 or 1. If it is set to 2, then as the sheets are plotted the
graphics for each layout are cached in memory and if you have many sheets in a
single drawing file (with lots of graphics) you could quickly run out of memory.
Setting this to 0 or 1 will either not cache any layout, or only cache the
current and modelspace. I've also found that in some cases this setting speeds
the loading of the layouts.

I have a similar problem when batch publishing to DWF ePlot. The program crashes when attempting to publish the last sheet and no DWF is produced (I have it set up not to background print but to actually show the progress in a window).
I have posted my thread at:
http://discussion.autodesk.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=758138&tstart=0

However, if I batch publish "DWF to PDF" (which is setup in all layouts), the PDF is generated, but the program still crashes. I have not found a solution to the DWF except publishing every sheet separately - yes it is a pain, but that is the only way it works on my computer....

I have ACAD C3D 2010 on a Win7 ult, 4GB RAM machine.

Hi Peter, Is that for 2009 and up, and is the same
as Options>>>system ; Layout Regen Options = regen when switching
layouts?

in 2008 I get unknown command when entering
"layoutRegenCtrl" at the command line.

Interesting, I would have thought that the opposite would have been true, that by plotting in the background and continuing to work in Civil 3D would have been a greater draw on the system memory.

I frequently get the "AutoCAD is running out of system memory, cancel current command?" when working with large files or multiple drawings.

I'm going to try a background batch plot to DWF of 20+ sheets to see if your technique works for me.

Thanks

Matt

Matt, I agree! But I decided to test it and I am amazed at how much faster and more stable it is to publish in background. I also turn layoutregenctl to 0. I was able to keep working as though nothing extra was being done. Normally when I publish a 50 sheet set it takes about 40 minutes to publish and the system crawls. Very happy you guys brought this up.
