Neil:
I believe 2009 has improvements in this area, if that's of any help.

I like to look at cross sections during the design to see what is happening
and make adjustments (ie. the slope is falling off the side of a hill and
would catch grade if the aligment is adjusted slightly). I don't want to
import the sections into the file until I have a design established. I'm
surprised there aren't many users who have an issue with this.

I was just asking. I always have little legal size layouts laying around.
When you get to this stage the alignments are normally set.

How would that help me see where it is in plan view?

You can turn on the Stations in your section view if that would work for
you.

Part of the issue is the plan view station labels disappear when viewing
cross sections with split views so I can't tell where the section view is
located in plan.

I want to view corridor sections with 2 viewports, one for plan view and one
for the sections views. I am finding the plan viewport does not remain
focused on my point of interest when I step through the sections. Is there a
way to make this work or what is a workflow that will allow me to view both
at once?
