Section viewing with split views

I want to view corridor sections with 2 viewports, one for plan view and one
for the sections views. I am finding the plan viewport does not remain
focused on my point of interest when I step through the sections. Is there a
way to make this work or what is a workflow that will allow me to view both
at once?

Part of the issue is the plan view station labels disappear when viewing
cross sections with split views so I can't tell where the section view is
located in plan.

You can turn on the Stations in your section view if that would work for
you.

How would that help me see where it is in plan view?

I was just asking. I always have little legal size layouts laying around.
When you get to this stage the alignments are normally set.

I like to look at cross sections during the design to see what is happening
and make adjustments (ie. the slope is falling off the side of a hill and
would catch grade if the aligment is adjusted slightly). I don't want to
import the sections into the file until I have a design established. I'm
surprised there aren't many users who have an issue with this.

Neil:

I believe 2009 has improvements in this area, if that's of any help.

Along this same line (no pun here), if you have an alignment and a profile
in two different windows use this command "ShowDrawingTipsFull". To turn it
off "HideDrawingTips". This is quite valuable if you are not aware of it.
I have them on buttons.

Neil,

We have made a number of changes to the view/edit command.

-Performance Enhancements
-New zoom options(lock to a subassembly or a station/elevation)
-Station tracker(when using multiple viewports you will see a line in profile and plan that indicated the cross section station you are currently viewing.
And some others.
Thanks
Nick
