Renumbering Survey Points

It appears, and I may be wrong, that the survey database does not have the ability to renumber EXISTING survey points.

I know of the "AP" command (and toggle in the settings), but I believe that's for user created database points.

Here's an example: I have a database with points (1-1000). I have another XML file (say with 500 points) numbered 1-500. I want to import these points into my existing database, but without over writing points 1-1000. Instead, shouldn't I be able to renumber the 500 points to 1001-1500?

I am not seeing this ability. I know of several work arounds, but, it seems that the survey database should allow for renumbering (instead of overwriting by default).

Does the "Point Protection" setting not work with XML imports? I don't have
any files of that type to check it with myself.

Yeah, I guess I should have included that as well. No, the Point Protection does not appear to function properly. Settings are to "renumber all" but it really is just overwriting.

As far as I can tell, there is no way to renumber points in a FBK import. This is a strong weakness in the product.

As a surveyor, you will start to notice a LOT of things like this. C3D has some amazing features - creating surfaces is SOOO much easier - but it also has some tragic lapses.
