Remove Data References?

hey,

I have a plan sheet drawing that references in a bunch of surfaces and such. I don't necessarily need these in here. Some of them are broken references. Something is corrupt, and/or I have issues because half the dwg's are release 2010 and half 2011 (I am using 2011). whatever the case, the drawings are loading extremely slowly, and some not at all.

I would like to remove the unecessary references. if the data link is not broken I can right click and after waiting for an inordinately long time, it does remove the reference. I can't remove those with broken links - it wants me to repair the link first. I don't even know for sure which file it is supposedly created in and linked to. I am stuck with these broken references and I think they are why it is taking forever to open drawings, or having them crash AutoCRUD before they can open. so what I would like is to do a global remove references - get rid of everyone at once. Is there a way to do this? maybe in a file outside of the dwg that I can edit the references out of?

thanks for any insight.

I belive if you attempt to repair the link and then just cancel it program will ask you whether you want to delete it. Also I have seen that many broken links are shown at 0,0 coordinates and that you can select and delete them that way. Finally you may use AssociateShortcutProject and AssociateProjectToDrawings commands and set the "Select project" field to <none> in case you want to remove them all. These are just few things I'd try.
